About us

"We draw inspiration from St. John Bosco, a messiah for street and destitute children of the 19th century.  He reached out to and helped the marginalized children through his unique System of Education called the “Preventive System” based on Reason, Religion and Loving kindness. He founded the Don Bosco Society and today it is spread out in 132 countries with 16,000 religious Priests and Brothers. It has groups of Schools, Colleges, Technical Schools, Children's Homes Young at Risk (YaR) Institutions, Youth Centers and many more. These offer numerous possibilities to millions of young people all over the world.

Don Bosco Ashalayam (DBA) , established on December 1985 by the Salesians of Don Bosco, is a project for street and destitute children irrespective of caste, religion or gender.  From its humble beginnings 33 years ago Don Bosco Ashalayam has stayed true to its mission and values.  Today DBA is  a  multi service and multi location institution reaching out to more than 5000 children every year. Yet the philosophy of reason, religion and loving kindness has not changed or diminished over the years. We endeavor to fulfill the needs of the thousands of children who we meet, serve and support every year. Each child is unique and the care and development plan is designed accordingly. The youth today are demanding their space and we have to find ways to accommodate their aspirations keeping their best interests in mind.  DBA offers a continuum of services that takes care of the basic necessities as well as mental and emotional well being of the Young at Risk.

I am grateful to our long time partner ASA France for putting up this website. I hope you will find it informative and  will consider visiting us and spend some time with the children.
I invite you to join the mission to empower the Young At Risk."
