Meet our team of devoted employees who work tirelessly to better the future of destitute children..

"St. John Bosco, a Saint of the 19th Century, brought about a revolution in the field of education by helping young people, especially the marginalized children through his unique System of Education called the “Preventive System” based on Reason, Religion and Loving kindness. He founded the Don Bosco Society and today it is spread out in 132 countries with 16,000 religious Priests and Brothers. It has groups of Schools, Colleges, Technical Schools, Orphanages, Young at risk (YaR) Institutions, Youth centers and many more. These offer numerous possibilities to millions of young people all over the world.

Don Bosco Ashalayam, established on December 1985, is a project for street and destitute children irrespective of caste, creed or gender, conducted by the Salesians of Don Bosco. A methodology evolved in the course of time to reach the “rootless, roofless” children to a home through Street Presence, Weaning, Grooming, Training, Saving and Homing. This project is a minority Institution, a registered charitable NGO with due recognitions and acceptance and given the License for the home by the Social Welfare department, Government of West Bengal.

Ashalayam is a synergetic place with dynamism, creativity, hard work and lots of dedication shown by the Salesians, Staff and volunteers. I am glad to present to you this website, the fruits of the hard work of the staff and the friends of Ashalayam. You are most welcome to visit this sight and can become a collaborating member of Ashalayam.

I invite you all to join us in the empowerment of the Young At Risk."
